Deposits and payment

  • A 50 percent deposit is taken at authorisation on any job over $2,000.
  • A further 25 percent is taken when parts arrive on any job over $10,000.
  • The final balance is due at pickup. No vehicle leaves the property until it is paid in full.
  • A 3.5 percent surcharge applies to card payments over $1,000, which passes through the merchant fee on high ticket work.

How estimates work here

Insurance walk-ins are welcome and we write the estimate. Bring the vehicle, your policy and your claim number.

An RV systems estimate covering slides, awnings, water, electrical or a generator is $150, credited against an authorised repair.

An in depth diagnostic is one hour at the posted diagnostic rate, credited against an authorised repair.

The minimum repair order is $500. Individual line items can be less than that and often are, but they ride inside an order that reaches it. Inspections, the systems estimate and diagnostic time are priced separately and each is credited against an authorised repair.

Every price band

142 bands, each showing the dollar range and the labour hours behind it. The hours are the honest part: a band is wide because the work genuinely varies, not because the price is negotiable.

Questions about cost

What are the posted labour rates?

Four rates, published rather than quoted on request. Body and paint labour is $210 per hour, covering structural, panel, fiberglass and refinish work. Mechanical and electrical is $260 per hour, covering RV systems, 12 volt and 120 volt, generator, plumbing and appliance work. Diagnostics, scan and programming is $285 per hour with a one hour minimum. Detail is $95 per hour. Insurance billed work may be written at carrier negotiated rates that differ from these.

How are paint and body materials charged?

By formula, from the hours already written on the estimate, so there is nothing to negotiate and nothing to pad. Paint supplies calculate at $55 per paint hour. Body supplies calculate at $5 per body hour. Hazmat and disposal is $45 flat, applied when chemicals, refrigerant or LP are involved. All three appear automatically rather than as a discretionary line, which is why a materials figure here can be checked against the labour figure above it.

What deposit is required before work begins?

Fifty percent at authorisation on any job over $2,000. A further 25 percent when parts arrive on any job over $10,000. Special order parts require a 100 percent deposit at the time of order, and that portion is non refundable because the part becomes yours the moment it ships. The final balance is due at pickup, and no vehicle leaves the property until it is paid in full. Insurance billed work follows the carrier's settlement instead.

Is sales tax charged on labour?

No. Sales tax of 7.75 percent applies to parts and materials only. Labour is not taxed in California, which means a repair weighted toward hours rather than components carries a smaller tax line than owners expect. On a structural job the labour can be three quarters of the invoice with tax touching none of it. Parts at or under $100 carry a 100 percent markup and parts over $100 carry 35 percent, both before tax.

Is there a minimum charge for a small job?

Yes. Nothing at this shop is priced below $500. A shop with a frame bench, a full length booth and a $285 diagnostic bay cannot open a repair order for a $200 job without the paperwork costing more than the work. If your repair is genuinely small, say so on the phone and we will tell you honestly whether it belongs here or whether an independent RV technician is a better use of your money.
